S.I.M.P.L.E. Newsletter
I’m so excited to bring you this month's newsletter! This girl’s got a LOT brewin and I can’t wait to catch you up!
But before we dive in, you know the drill, the S.I.M.P.L.E. Newsletter is an acronym for
** Story. Inspiration. Music. P.Lab. Laugh. Educate **
Let’s dive in.
Story Time!
So, if you’ve been following me on social media, you may have seen that I just had a birthday on May 2nd, and I just turned the big 4-0! π₯³
It’s funny, when I was in my 20s and early 30’s, I dreaded the idea of turning 40. In fact, I assumed I’d be one of those people who never admitted their age publicly. Boy has my mindset changed around THAT!
Many view aging negatively, but I believe growing older is a significant honor.
I love that the older I get, the wiser I get, and the more I truly embrace my authentic self.
I was actually reflecting on the past the other day, and a memory came up from when I was 29 years old.
I was toying with the idea of going all in on learning music production. (I had already been dabbling, but this was a pivotal moment in which I decided I was going to really dive deep into this skill).
I remember thinking to myself…
“you’re already 29 years old. You’re going to be 30 soon. You really gonna do this? It’s going to take so long!”
And then a voice (let’s call it my higher self) responded with…
“you bet your sweet as we’re doing this…Now let’s get to work!”
And that’s when I really went ALL IN on my music career, and started studying, learning, growing, and becoming massively intentional.
10 years later, I’ve landed hundreds of sync placements, gotten my songs cut with other artists, and built a successful production company with clients all over the world.
But something I didn’t even have on my vision board, and what ended up being the best thing that ever happened to me, was Produce Like a Boss.
Because now I get to pay it forward.
And now I am building an empire of empowered musicians that are taking control of their music, their minds, and their careers.
From unleashing their creative potential, to sharpening their skills and honing their craft, to growing and scaling their business, I have made it my mission to arm them with the tools they need to succeed!
Reminds me of the Tony Robbins quote:
“Most people overestimate what they can do in 1 year, and underestimate
what they can do in 10 years”.
And now, I’m sitting here at 40 years old with the big ass, hairy, scary goal of writing my first book, and feeling some of those similar fearful thoughts of self doubt and imposter syndrome that I felt when I first decided to learn how to produce…
… but if the last 10 years have taught me anything, it’s that there’s GOLD on the other side of fear, and so I must do it, even if it means doing it scared!
So, turning 40 honestly feels amazing. And the best part?
I feel like I’m just getting started π
Anddddd to wrap up story time I MUST share the most heartfelt, thoughtful, and beautiful gift I received from Team P.LAB for Mother’s Day.
Firstly, I woke up to this message that instantly initiated the waterworks.

“Document, Don’t Create” - Gary Vee
Soviet-born American entrepreneur, author, and speaker, Gary Vee made an amazing video (linked above) called “Document, Don’t Create” in which he stated that as content creators, we shouldn’t focus on “creating content” but rather, just “documenting our process”.
The reason I’m bringing this up is, I know a lot of you guys are struggling to show up on social media.
You may feel like you don’t know what to say.
Or that you can’t afford the proper gear. (which is kinda like saying you can’t produce great music without fancy gear - I’m callin you out! π)
Or you may even feel resentful, saying things to yourself like “ugh, I hate social media, I just want to focus on my music”.
And I totally get it, I used to feel the same way.
But here’s my rebuttal.
Can you think of anything better than getting paid to be you?
I sure can’t.
I mean, what better job is there than getting paid to exist? π€
And that’s what using social media, and building a brand can do for you.
This isn’t about becoming an influencer that flexes in front of fancy cars.
Or having to do cringey tik tok dances. π¬πΊπΌ
This is about sharing YOUR story, and YOUR process so you can get MORE eyes on your ART.
And the best part is that it doesn't take much extra work, all you gotta do is turn on a camera and share what you’re already doing!
How would you share a new song you’re working on with a friend?
Would you open up your DAW?
Would you tell the story about what inspired you to write it?
Who broke your heart?
Who’d you fall in love with?
What’s on your mind?
Do you see how this is another opportunity to share your art?
Marketing is simply how you communicate with the world who you are, and what value you have to deliver.
And when you think about it, isn’t that why we put music out there in the first place?
To communicate who we are? And to express ourselves?
So, shouldn’t it be exciting that we get to use social media to do that?
That we get to use social media as an extension of our creative process?
It’s amazing how switching your perspective on something can strengthen your mindset.
Next time you catch yourself dreading posting on social media, try saying:
“I get to post and share my story on social media”
instead of
“I have to post on social media”
And remember, document, don’t create.
You’re already making the music.
By simply documenting the process, you’re getting the most leverage of your time, AND you’re letting your audience see the real you, and that’s what people are craving - connection.
Music Recommendation
Ok, this one has been a LONG TIME COMING… but without further adieu, I’d like to introduce you to the P.LAB Spotify Playlist!! π₯³
This playlist showcases music from yours truly, our P.LAB coaches, alumni, and of course, our students. π
I can't even find the words to express how insanely happy I am that Produce Like a Boss is helping musicians get their music out there. Seriously, listening to the tunes our students create not only melts my heart but also brings tears of pure joy to my eyes. I'm not even kidding, I was legit bawling my eyes out while jamming to everyone's incredible music.
I will continue to add to this playlist, this is just the beginning! And to all my P.LAB students, don’t worry, I’ll let you know exactly how to submit to it soon!
P.LAB Spotlight
Alright, it’s time to shine the spotlight on this month's Producer of the Month, Anthony Church! π₯³

Anthony is a producer and podcast host out of Northeast Ohio. He has been active in music for 6 years, and in the last 4 has been focusing on promoting his brand and his skills.
He came to Produce Like A Boss wanting to uplevel his music career - including diversifying his income streams and making new connections.
He has already been successful on Beatstars - at this point he has over 47,000 streams - and has worked with over 25 independent artists! π§
Since joining Home Studio boss VIP, Anthony has focused on building his community - building his email list and running a song contest with the prize of some free beats and a spot on his podcast!
And he gained his first Beatstars sale from a cold lead - leading to 7 more sales in the last 6 months and is transforming his leads into clients! π
It has been awesome to witness Anthony’s growth and success!
He has an incredible work ethic - posting a beat a day on Beatstars for almost 3 years! - and it is such a pleasure to award him Producer of the Month.
Congratulations, Anthony! You’re a true BOSS! π₯³
Laugh
Ok, I cannot get enough of this musician and content creator “Anthony Vincent”. Once I stumbled onto his first video I was hooked. Check this out.
Firstly, of course this is hilarious, a mean metal guy screaming and singing about how much he loves his cat?!
C’mon, that’s epic!
But also, I love what a brilliant niche he’s carved out for himself on social media! Not only is he appealing to his “genre”, but he broadened the net HUGELY because now he got the cat lovers - brilliant marketing there!
And he doesn’t stop at cats.
Do yourself a favor and check out some of his other videos, like his procrastination crushing song “Starting Monday” or his spring cleaning smash “Throw it Out”.
Another great example of widening the net. Because now, rather than just targeting “fans of metal”, he’s reached an entirely new audience of people who are identifying with the subjects of the song - like beating procrastination and cleaning the house!
Brilliant.
